Why Antlytics Moved from AUD to USD Pricing
Update (July 2026): This post originally argued the case for AUD billing, which Antlytics offered at launch. We have since moved to USD pricing. This post explains the change honestly rather than pretending the original argument never existed.
What changed
Antlytics now bills in USD:
- Starter: US$9/month (or US$90/year — two months free)
- Pro: US$29/month (or US$290/year — two months free)
Both plans include a 14-day free trial. Creating an account needs no card; Checkout may ask for payment details to begin the trial.
Why we changed
When we launched with AUD billing, the reasoning was simple: we are Australian, many early users were Australian, and local-currency billing avoids conversion fees and exchange-rate drift.
That reasoning was sound for a local product. It stopped being sound as our audience became global:
- Every comparison is in USD. Plausible, Fathom, Umami, and every other privacy analytics tool prices in USD. An AUD price forces every non-Australian visitor to do currency conversion just to work out whether we are competitive — and we are, so that friction was costing us.
- Most of our users are not in Australia. Developers using AI coding tools are a global audience. Pricing for the minority made the price harder to read for the majority.
- USD pricing is simpler to keep honest. One price, directly comparable, no exchange-rate footnotes.
What this means for Australian users
The honest trade-off: if you pay with an Australian card, your bank converts USD to AUD at its own rate and may add a foreign transaction fee (typically 1–3%). US$9/month works out to roughly A$13–15/month depending on the rate and your card.
That is the same situation you face with almost every other SaaS subscription, and we would rather be upfront about it than bury it.
FAQ
Why not offer both currencies? Stripe supports multi-currency pricing and we may add an AUD display price for Australian customers in future. For now, one currency keeps billing, refunds, and the pricing page simple.
Did the price go up? The entry price is now US$9/month for Starter with unlimited sites and 500,000 pageviews a month included. Check the pricing on the homepage for current details.
Is annual billing worth it? US$90/year versus US$108 if paying monthly — annual billing gives you two months free. If you plan to use Antlytics long-term, annual is the better deal.
